Sometimes you find yourself face-to-face with situations so terrible that you can't help but laugh. It's like your brain tries to make sense of the sheer Very bad magnitude of unadulterated absurdity and just throws its hands up, opting for laughter as a coping strategy.
But then, you suddenly become aware that it's not really actually that amusing. It's just plain terrible. And the laughter you felt morphs into a groan.
In the end, you are left with a sense of confusion. You question about the nature of it all. Was this intended to be funny?
Or were we just living in a simulation gone wrong?

Dreadful Day Ever
It all started with a terrible case of terrible hair. I couldn't do it to look decent. As I was dashing out the door, I stumbled and spilled all over the carpet. To make matters worse, I was extremely running behind for school.

A series/chain/cascade of unfortunate/awful/disastrous events unfolded/occurred/piled on top each other, leaving me feeling like I was in a nightmare/horror movie/comedy of errors. It's the kind of situation where you just want to run away and hide.
